In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Governor Perry conveniently fails to mention that he used billions in federal stimulus money to cover up his budget deficits in Texas

While there are many forms of writing the author could have used, she chose to use a negative connotation. There are many ways she could have worded this and it would not have sounded as bad. By the way she worded this sentence, you can definitely tell what she was trying to drive home to the audience at hand. She wants then to loathe Governor Perry because he OBVIOUSLY chose to leave out the simple fact that he used money in the wrong way and claimed he didn't. The effect on the audience is obvious and complete. The connotation she uses is perfect for what her purpose is.
